The Mad Rose

The merchant ship The Mad Rose departed the Gulf of Cambray bound for Liverpool, on September 25, the year of our Lord 1783. The crew was fit, and the sea and skies promised an easy sail. It was riding low in the waterline: loaded with fine Indian cottons, silks, and some say opium. But that might be a colorful rumor.
Yet, on the evening of the September 27th, just two short evenings at sea The Mad Rose and it's crew were surprised by a dark ship that slid along side it, and it's fearsome, dirty crew boarded. Led by Captain Edwina Shagnasty (improbable, but it is an olde family name) the pirates overtook the ship and soon transferred The Mad Rose crew onto the dirty, leaky decks of the Shagnasty vessel, and sent them on their sad way. That original crew was never heard from or seen again. It is said that they found a quiet island to live out their days in shame at being overtaken in that manner.
Captain Edwina thought this was a fair and amusing trade. So, with thoughts of Indian silks and cottons, they headed for the New World. When the new crew of The Mad Rose arrived in the New World they were regaled in their fineries and regarded for their style. The refined, and dare we say, reformed crew of The Mad Rose lived to become women of infamy, reknown, and style.
The Mad Rose wishes the same for you Dear Lady!
